John Cook is the supervisor for the Braddock District of Fairfax County. He represents his district on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. He is a partner in the Fairfax based law firm of Cook Kitts & Francuzenko, PLLC. Cook's Biography )〕 ==Career== Cook is a former chair of the Employment Law Section of the Fairfax County Bar Association and a member of the New York State and the Virginia bar associations, the Virginia State Bar and the District of Columbia Bar. He is a mediator for the District of Columbia Superior Court and a conciliator for the Fairfax Circuit Court. He was elected to the position of Supervisor, defeating Ilryong Moon in a special election to replace Sharon Bulova after she was elected to the position of Chairman of the Board of Supervisors in 2009. He is the first Republican to represent the district in many years. Cook was re-elected in 2011, defeating Democrat Janet Oleszek. Supervisor Cook is the Chairman of the Fairfax County – Fairfax City Inter-jurisdictional Committee, Vice-Chair of the Board’s “50+” Committee, and the Chair of the new George Mason University Fairfax Campus Advisory Board (FCAB). He also serves as Treasurer to the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) Operations Board and is a member of the Northern Virginia Transportation Commission (NVTC). In addition, Supervisor Cook serves on the Norther Virginia Regional Commission (NVRC). Cook was recently appointed to serve on the Capital Facilities and Debt Management Group by Chairman Bulova.〔http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/braddock/pdfs/braddock_guide.pdf〕 As president of the Kings Park Civic Association (KPCA), Cook designed and implemented a Neighborhood Revitalization Program, which served as a pilot program for then-Supervisor Sharon Bulova’s neighborhood revitalization initiative. Under his leadership, KPCA won the Best of Braddock “Community Enhancement and Beautification” award from the Braddock District Council in 2008.
